What The Bible Say About Dating

Christian singles are consistently seeking advice on how dating applies to their every day Christian lives and there is one book that gives Christians the advice they need, where might one find this book? This book, which contains infinite wisdom on guiding Christians on their journey in finding their soulmates, can be located within any Christian’s home. This book is titled "The bible".

In 2 Corinthians 6:14, it states "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? This verse informs Christians that they should not mingle with non-believers. This does not mean that Christians cannot be friends with non-believers for it is important that Christians provide opportunities to witness to non-believers in the hopes that they too will follow God. In dating, this verse makes perfect sense. Single Christians cannot date people who are not Christians because it does not make sense to date someone who contains the darkness of the world in comparison the light which Christians share in God’s love.

1 Corinthians 6:18, "Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. This can be related to Christian dating in the sense that one should not give into their sexual wiles and desires. For Christians who are wondering about pre-marital sex, this verse re-enforces the fact that one should not engage in such matters for our bodies are the temples of God and when we perform immoral sins, such as sexual immorality (pre-marital sex), we are in fact performing sins against our own bodies.

Genesis 2:18, "Then the Lord God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him." This verse states of God’s will for Christians to not be alone. God wants Christians to find their soul mates.

1 Corinthians 7: 1-40, "It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman." But because of the temptations to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman a husband. The husband should give to his wife what is rightfully hers and likewise the wife to the husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. The same as to the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of lack of control… This verse plainly states that God wants Christian couples who are married to have satisfying sex lives with one another. God even makes it well known in the verse that Christian married couples should give their bodies to one another and often.

Genesis 2:24, "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh." A man will leave his family behind in forming his new family. This verse also means that a man’s wife will be prioritized over his past family.

Deuteronomy 7: 3-4
, "You shall not intermarry with them, giving your daughters to their sons or taking their daughters for your sons, for they would turn away your sins from following me, to serve other gods. Then the anger of the Lord would be kindled against you, and he would destroy you quickly. God wants not only our Christian spouses to follow him, but also God wants to be residing in Christian households. God wants Christian families to worship him and only him. Following true Christian values is rearing children to follow God while preparing them for heaven. Christian families should prepare their children to find other Christians in starting families for this is pleasing to God.

As Christians singles can see, God does touch on the topic of dating, marriage, sex and how to rear children. The verses mentioned in this article are only a few such verses that Christian singles can apply to their dating life while seeking their soul mates. Find out more about Online Christian Dating.
